Jain center updated sign on process

Posted By Yogendra K. Jain, Sunday, July 27, 2008

We have gotten 550 people from Boston loaded on to JainLink and membership conversion for them is coming along nicely.

The following was the bulk email we had sent to them.

Step 1:  export your member names, emails, and addresses on to the excel spreadsheet;

Step 2:  continue populating your site with more and more content

Step 3:  import your members to JainLink

Step 3A: put this in your newsletter (if timeline permits)

Step 4:  send a bulk email out to them

Step 5:  follow up with a second request to sign on after a 1 week

Step 6: send out newsletter to both members and non-members

  *****************

Jai Jinendra @@FIRST_NAME@@,

You and your family members are invited to join JainLink on-line community.  Please visit www.JainLink.org and register.

This Jain on-line community has been developed in collaboration with JAINA, Jain Centers, YJA, YJP, and many other Jain organizations.

Here you can network with other members, stay up-to-date with news, find out about upcoming events, visit your group home pages, submit notes and photos, maintain your personal profile page, and much more!

Thank you.

*******  Template to export current member list *****************

https://jaina.yourmembership.com/admin/ix/templates.asp

please visit here to get templates.  You can get member templates if we agree that we would like to make the people in the database members. If not, then use the non-member template and this will require all of them to register and become members (many will not go through the trouble).  Feel free to keep many of the fields depopulated.  Chandra can help you add more custom fields.

Also in parallel - we should be thinking about what kind of content we would like to add to this, how we should organize it etc.  Ideally - when you have completed the database, the content is ready as well, and we can get send out bulk emails, newsletters, etc.

It would be good to put an email together on the overall strategy for content.

Ideas for YJP content and news expansion

Posted By Yogendra K. Jain, Monday, June 30, 2008

Vineet Jain had asked on what can be done.. .here are some thoughts..

1.       Develop content specific to YJP

a.       Put past photos on there (10 min.)

b.      Put some content of past newsletter to do that (10 min.)

2.       Start a blog (10 min.) which is specific to YJP

3.       Send and invite to all YJP members to join this

4.       YJP can use this as their membership management

a.       Import names and emails of YJP members and they will get an email to join this link

5.       Put a link / button on YJP webpage to this

6.       Announce next activity  on this

7.       Send newsletters to the group

8.       They can see local activities that are taking place

9.       … and many more  membership management functions are possible…

step 2: click on go to frontend

step 9: type group code to be the name of the committee; when you hit enter, you will see that the URL changes to /group/groupcode
step 10:
step 11: in the permissions change the following:
NO - to autoapprove of photos
Bulk emails  - EMAILS MUST BE APPROVED

Personalize JainLink - some ideas

Posted By Yogendra K. Jain, Saturday, June 14, 2008
Great experience in logging on -- Add a touch of Indian and Jainness --

other edit and suggestions --
namaskar - om sign - jain universe sign - give it a feel and pleasant experince - a quote from meri bhavana
just one line.
lotus flowers - jain flag - jain colors..
vegetarian diet - with frutis and healthy
AAA - add in simple background --
the message should be subtle in the backgroup or side panel

Or ask leading questions (like aol does ) Do you know what is AAA?
Famous vegetarians are?  .... read more.
if they wish they can clinic and read but lead is no more than 5-7 words.

SUGGESTIONS

As soon as i log in -
then it should in bold prompts ask if i want to go the website of my group that is jain center of memphis - which is main reason i am going there - to see date of pathshala activitives etc.

hence

( most often it recognizes me - and says jai jinedra manoj -- if not it asks for my login password on the side)

step 2 after it sees me it still goes to the home page for jainlink but a large click for my groups website that is jain center of memphis or jain leadership - any one that i am signed up for.

step 3 - it must allow me to send email to all
allow me to post dates and activities if i have adminstrative authority.. on line poll members - e.g. "Is Saturday ok for dance practice"  send emails to select groups EC or pathshala group etc.

Posted By Yogendra K. Jain, Tuesday, May 20, 2008
1. White page concept for business (not members).  Can we get some people to advertise and collect revenues from these people to fund the expenses.
2. FAQ - is there an embedded icon for this
3. How do you add newsletter to a particular group (there is one stored for Chicago)
4. How to make "subadmins"
5. We have deleted the groups on the main menu and got centers under this - is this OK.
6. update the colors
7. update the logo
8. type of Calendar/events - local centers want to see their events only not global events... but if i am visiting SFO, then I can go to their group and see the events they have for their group
