2010 YJP Convention : Live and HELP Live! The YJP 2010-2011 Committee is beginning registration for its upcoming National Convention to be held in June, in the warm blue waters of the Caribbean. This year’s theme, Live and HELP Live, aims to awaken the proactive and creative spirit within each of us. Our generation of young Jains has had the privilege of exploring our professional options and embarking on a journey that embraces our ideals. We have the remarkable opportunity to do more than Live and Let Live. Because of the strong foundation our parents laid for us, we can Live and HELP Live! Frequently Asked Questions
Now that I'm registered, is there anything else I need to do? Yes, Norwegian Cruise Lines requires you to pre-register on their website.
I will be getting to Miami early/I will be leaving Miami late. Can I coordinate my travel plans with other attendees? Yes, we have set up a YJP 2010 Convention Blog Page to help you connect with other convention goers. Coordinate flights, taxi, hotels - whatever you want - to make your trip that much more easier and enjoyable.
Registration cost covers all ocean view lodging and meals from Miami to the Bahamas along with admission to all YJP activities and event sessions.
I'm married and/or have a child. Can I come? By all means! We're welcoming couples and already have a number registered. When registering please include a comment indicating that you need a special room.
Is there an age restriction for YJP and the Convention? Yes, YJP is for those aged 24 to 42 years of age What cruise will I be boarding?
We will be sailing with the Norwegian Cruise Line, on board their Norwegian Sky to be exact. The Norwegian Sky will start sailing promptly at 5pm. But as a standard procedure and safety reasons, boarding will end by 3pm. They will not let you board after 3pm, so please arrive on time and leave yourself ample time to get to the port. YJP will begin its registration on board at 3:30pm. Once you board the ship, you will be directed to the YJP Registration Booth.
Miami International Airport (MIA) will be your best choice. The airport is approximately 8.5 miles from the Port of Miami. Where will the cruise ship depart from? Port of Miami Will YJP provide transportation between the airport and port? No, but there are several options available to get to the port. The Port of Miami lies several miles east of Miami International Airport where taxis, rental cars and shuttles are readily available near the baggage claim. For more information on rates, visit: http://www.miami-airport.com/hotel_shuttles.asp If driving, take I-95 north or south to I-395. Follow directional signs to the Biscayne Boulevard exit. At Biscayne Boulevard, make a right. Go to 5th Street, which converts to Port Boulevard near the American Airlines Basketball Arena. Make a left and go over the Port bridge. Follow directional signs to designated terminal. Port of Miami parking for cruise passengers is payable prior to embarkation, and both cash and credit card payments are accepted.
Fri 06/04 - Miami - 5:00 PM (depart) What type of Travel Documents will I need to bring? U.S. Citizens will need a valid passport OR proof of citizenship and a valid government-issued photo I.D. (driver's license with a photo) OR any other WHTI compliant document. Proof of Citizenship examples include: an original or state certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate, certificate of U.S. naturalization, original certificate of U.S. citizenship, or a U.S. Consular report of your birth abroad. Each person is allowed up to two pieces of personal luggage on board, with each piece weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.
All rooms are triple occupancy and you will be sharing the room with people of the same gender as you. If you want to share the room with a friend, you will have a chance to indicate that when registering. YJP will do its best to ensure that you are matched accordingly.
As a standard procedure, disembarkation usually begins 2 hours after docking. We will arrive in Miami by 7am on June 7th, but we won’t be able to disembark until 9am. Please make sure your returns flights are scheduled for noon or later on Monday to give yourself ample time to get to the airport.
