JAINA is proud organizer of 1st International Jain Conference at Ahmedabad University Campus on January 18 & 19 with our partners – World Jain Confederation, JITO (Ahemdabad Chapter) and Shrutratnakar Trust. JAINA will propose at the conference creation of an online Jain University.

Jain Study Center of North Carolina (JSCNC) participates in Adopt-A-Highway cleanup twice a year. The statewide Adopt-A-Highway program was established in 1988 and is a joint effort between community volunteers and the NC Department of Transportation to keep our roads clean. JSCNC adopted a stretch of Highway 54 in Cary between Morrisville Parkway and Airport Boulevard. This stretch is named in honor of late Mr. Lalit Banker. JSCNC tradition continued this October with enthusiastic volunteers lead by Pritesh Shah.

JSCNC is also a proud participant and one of the sponsors of the Greater Triangle Area Crop Hunger Walk 2019. The JSCNC team, led by Mr. Ajay and Mrs. Jayshree Shah, has been participating since 2008. This year they had about 50+ walkers from the JSCNC team, and our members donated over $2100 towards this great cause.

In 607 BCE, in a village named Gobar in the state of Magadha, lived a Brahmin couple named Vasubhuti and Prithvi Gautam. They had three sons: Indrabhuti, Agnibhuti, and Vayubhuti. All three sons were well versed in the Hindu scriptures (Vedas) and were experts in the performance of Hindu rituals. They were great scholars at an early age, and each one of them had 500 disciples.

Once, in the nearby city of Apapa, a brahmin named Somil organized a yajna (sacrificial ceremony). About 4,400 brahmins gathered for the occasion. Out of the eleven most popular scholars, Indrabhuti Gautam stood out as the head priest conducting the ceremony.

Let me treat all living beings with equanimity and none with enmity.
