Quote of the month
|
|
One should fight one’s inner enemies – passions, attachment, aversion, desires and the like.
What is the purpose of fighting the external enemies? Conquering the self through self-reliance leads to happiness.
- Uttaraadhyayan Sutra

SHRUT BHAKTI
|
Aagam is the holy book of Jainism. It is the only book that brings us the words of Lord Mahavir.
Originally Aagam was in such a language that it wouldn’t have been possible for us to read and understand.
For us to understand Aagam, many saadhus and sadhvis have contributed their knowledge and time.
Earlier we had many Sadhus who took the initiative of converting these Aagams into Granths so that we could understand them.
Today what we see as Aagams is actually the Granths that are in an easier language.
In the fifth Ara we don’t have Kevalis (The enlightened), Thirthankars,
and Gandhars etc to take us towards the right path and so it is only the Granths that help us and act as a guide towards the right path of Jainism.
There are many Sadhus, Sadhvis, and Munis etc who have converted them like:-
1) Acharaya Umaswatiji, who wrote 500 Granths.
2) Kalikasarwagya Hemchandra Acharayaji wrote Granths consisting of 3.5crore shlokes.
3) Shri Haribhadra Suriji wrote 1444 Granths.
Shri Haribhadra Suriji had to face a few problems while writing these Granths.
Every day he would start writing them in the morning and would continue till sunset.
He wouldn’t like to stop writing those Granths because he had less time and had to complete all the Granths.
One day Laling Seth was passing by and saw that Shri Haribhadra Suriji was sad.
In curiosity he asked him, “The one who removes sadness from everyone’s life, how is it that he himself is sad?”Shri Haribhadra Suriji told him about his problem.
Laling Seth had a very precious diamond that would shine throughout the day.
Without any hesitation he just gives Shri Haribhadra Suriji the diamond so that he could continue writing even after sunlight.
We see that how people have contributed their precious time and things, so that we can understand the Aagams.
We should always appreciate these contributions and dedication as it is only because of them that we can study the Aagams.

KNOW YOUR TIRTHANKAR - RUSHABHDEV BHAGWAN
|
|
Rushabhdev Bhagwan was the 1st Tirthankar of this Avsarpinikaal. He was son of King Nabhi and Marudeva Mata and was born at Ayodhya.
His symbol is ox and it symbolizes farming. He introduced the technique of farming.
Rushabhdev Bhagwan had 84 Gandhar and his place of Nirvaan is Mount Ashtapada.
Rushabhdev Bhagwan in his first sermon said that human being should avoid pramad (laziness).
He gave an example that like when the deserts are too hot in day time, people instead of sleeping in night , cross the desert in night as its cool. Similarly too much sleeping (nidra) is also pramad and one should avoid it.
To get eternal peace and blissfulness one should do less pramad and spend more time in Dharma Aradhana.
