4. JAIN CENTERS NEWS

Jain Study Center of North Carolina celebrated Mother’s Day on May 20, 2018. The event was followed by Aarti and lunch. JSCNC is also planning an outdoor picnic to celebrate Father’s Day on June 17th, 2018.

Jain Center of Greater Phoenix (JCGP) cordially invites you to celebrate its 10th anniversary along with its 2nd phase of the Pratishtha event to be held on 3rd & 4th July, 2018.

JCGP is blessed to have presence of Pujya Gurudev Shri Rakeshbhai Zaveri for Pratishtha. Vidhikars from India will guide the Pratishtha event. With over 150 families, JCGP today is truly a role model for the Jain Sangh where all Jain sects worship together peacefully. 5. The Three Jewels of Jainism

The three jewels of Jainism, also known as three gems, constitute the core practice of Jainism for both the ascetics and the laity. The three jewels which are common for both groups are cultivation of 1. Right Perception (Samyak Darshan), 2. Right Knowledge (Samyak Gyan) and 3. Right Conduct (Samyak Charitra). While the laity is given some freedom to practice the law, no lenience is given to those who have chosen to become the ascetics.

7. VEGAN RECIPE

TORTILLA OR CHAPITTI PIZZA

Ingredients:

For Topping

• 3/4 cup baked beans
• 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
• 1 tsp finely chopped green chilies
• 1/4 cup deseeded and chopped tomatoes
• 1 tbsp. tomato ketchup
• 1/2 tsp dry red chili flakes
• Sliced black olives for garnishing
• salt to taste

Other Ingredients:

• 4 leftover tortillas or chapattis
• olive oil for brushing
• 8 tbsp grated vegan cheese

Method:

1. Mix all topping ingredients and divide it into 4 equal portions and keep aside.
2. Heat a broad non-stick pan and brush it with a little olive oil.
3. Place one tortilla on it, spread 1 portion of the topping mix evenly over it and sprinkle 2 tbsp vegan cheese.
4. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on a very slow flame till the tortilla is crisp and the cheese has melted.
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to make 3 more tortilla pizzas.
6. Garnish with olives and serve immediately.

A 1: Siddhas are higher than Arihants since they have destroyed all the karmas and are liberated from this world. However, we pay homage to Arihants first because Arihants are the living teachers who show us the path to the liberation.

A 2: Siddhas have no bodies because they have no karmas.
