4. Jainism Says…
Q 2: Why do Jains concentrate all their efforts in saving minutest bugs, yet ignore violence to human beings such as sometimes condemning other Jain sects, and considers other religions Gods as Ku-devs and Gurus as Ku-gurus, etc?

A 2: This is a very perceptive question related to conduct/achar of Jain laypeople. Yes, some Jain lay people might be carrying out this kind of behavior. However, at the same time, all of us have also witnessed Jain laypeople, who have truly internalized basic Jain values/principles and they live by those values starting with their immediate family, relatives, community, animals, plants, environment, etc. Therefore, as fellow Jains, our primary responsibilities are:

Understand, internalize and practice Jain values and principles. Do not take part in any behavior that is contradicting with our basic Jain values and principles. Understand potential root causes for such mindset and behavior and address them with integrity, honesty, and humility so that it does not propagate in the future generations.

5. SIX DECADE JOURNEY OF A GUJARATI COLUMN 'INT ANE IMARAT'
On Thursday, 6th June 2019 a milestone like event occurred in the history of Gujarati Journalism. The column ‘Int ane Imarat’ written by Padma Shri Dr. Kumarpal Desai, published in ‘Gujarat Samachar’ (famous Gujarati newspaper) on every Thursday completed continuously 65 years. In 1954, the man of letters ‘Jaybhikhkhu’ (Balabhai Desai) had begun this column. In 1969, Jaybhikkhu died and then the editor of Gujarat Samachar Shantilal Shah insisted that this column should be continued by Kumarpal Desai. Jaybhikhkhu continued this column for about 15 years and his son, Kumarpal Desai has continued this column until today from 1969 to 2019 for about 50 years. In the history of Gujarati Journalism, this is the only and the first event that a column has been continuously published until 65 years.

Acharya Lokesh Muni said that for the protection of the environment, we should have an environment-friendly lifestyle. Lord Mahavir said that the earth, water, fire, air, and and vegetation are all creatures. Do not penetrate or harm them unnecessary. Do not use them more than necessary. He said that the natural resources and substances are limited, and desires are unlimited. Limited resources cannot fulfill unlimited requirements with limitless desires. To prevent environmental pollution, it is necessary to create a policy and also to associate it with education.
