Jain Prayer was recited at Arizona House of Representatives on April 30, 2019. Members from Jain Center of Greater Phoenix were invited to the theater event. More details are below.

4. JAINA ESSAY COMPETITION
Last eight days are remaining to submit your entries for an essay writing competition on "Jainism in 21st Century". Please send your entries to jainahq@jaina.org by May 15, 2019.The best story will be published in our newsletter and at www.jaina.org.

Competition Rules:
  1. Age: No bar
  2. Articles should be in English language and a maximum of 400 words long in a word file.
  3. Writing style must be clear and easy to understand.
  4. Please write your name, address and phone number along with the story. An essay is welcomed from anywhere in the world.
5. JAIN DEBATE IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
The Institute of Jainology (IoJ) is delighted that the Hon Gareth Thomas MP, the Chair of the Jain All-Party Parliamentary Group, for which it acts as Secretariat, secured a historic first Jain debate in the House of Commons on the Jain contribution to the UK. IoJ is grateful to the Hon Rishi Sunak MP, Minister for Housing for his contribution on behalf of the Government. Watch the debate here.

In the debate, Gareth speaks of the need for the Jain religion to be included in the UK census. IoJ urges us to get our communities and friends to support the online petition by Navin Shah AM, from the Greater London Assembly. Please show your support by signing the petition.
6. PAINTINGS ON EXHIBITION IN NJ
Art Advisory Committee brings “Point of Origin” show, where artists will showcase their art pieces. Mahendra Shahs’ paintings of Five Sisters, Durga, Women Rituals and Sun will be on display in the exhibition. His Cartoons, Jain Paintings have been exhibited earlier in several JAINA Conventions and Chalo Gujarat.

Mahendra Shah, 73 and an architect turned to entrepreneur, has always been passionate about art. He was born and raised in India and immigrated to the US 45 years ago. As a child, Mahendra found every opportunity to draw. Despite no formal art training, he has also been an avid cartoonist, and has also published two books. He specializes in multimedia work, integrating acrylics, watercolors, collaging and basic drawing techniques mainly on Indian theme with more concentration on Mithila Art. Take a look at his paintings here.

Jain Prayer - Meri Bhavna - was recited at Arizona House of Representatives on April 30, 2019. Introduction and recitation were done by Mr. Arvind Bobra. Jain Center of Greater Boston celebrated Mahavir Jayanti on Sunday, April 28th. Where they did a presentation of 16 Auspicious Dreams of Mata Trishala, performance, exhibition and presentations by Pathshala students. Here are some photos from the event.

Bhaktamar Stotra Story: Blessings From The Goddess

There was a clever thief named, Sudatta. Once, he was caught red-handed while stealing. He was brought before the king. The intemperate king rebuked the thief and asked, “Tell me where do you keep the stolen goods”? As he was a thief, he knew all the crooked policy. He thought that if he named some rich person, the king would be pleased on having attained the wealth and I would be free. Hence he spoke, “The stolen material is with Seth Hemadatta.” The king sent for Seth immediately by sending a messenger. No sooner, Seth received the message he visited the palace.

9. QUIZ ANSWER
A 1: The Atma gets Akshay sukh. At the time of death when the Vedniya karma is destroyed the Atma goes to salvation. The pure soul has no disease, pain, and never feels sorrow. Pure Atma is ever youthful and is ever happy, and healthy.
