Dear Sadharmiks,
Jai Jinendra! Pranam!
It is with great pleasure and honor that I stand before you today as the President of this great institution - JAINA. On behalf of the entire organizing team and the EC, I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to everyone gathered here at our biennial convention. This gathering marks a momentous occasion for us, as it brings together the brightest minds, the most dedicated and passionate individuals committed to advancing our shared goals. Together, we have the power to create change, innovate, and shape the future of the Jain Community in ways that will leave a lasting impact. I encourage you to seize this opportunity to engage, network, and collaborate with fellow attendees, as we embark on a transformative journey that will undoubtedly inspire and empower us all. Welcome, and let the convention commence!
Following the tradition, JAINA will recognize and award individuals from North America on July 1, 2023, at the JAINA Convention 2023, for their contribution to promoting the Jain Religion and its principles through their selfless work. We have divided the award into four categories. Please look at the Awardees below.
JAINA Ahimsak Eco-Vegan Committee invites you to join their official WhatsApp group to connect vegan and vegan-curious Jains at this convention and discuss relevant subjects. Join the WhatsApp group at the link below. To those who are going to attend JAINA Convention 2023, do not miss out on Vegan Food.
Please check the promo video of Dr. Bipin Doshi, who is a keynote speaker at the upcoming JAINA Convention 2023. He is going to conduct two sessions as mentioned below.
- How to teach Jainism to Youth – On 1st July @ 4 pm – Mahaveer Skies
- Research Avenues in Jainism – On 2nd July @ 4 pm – Ranakpur Skies.
Also, check out another promo video of a musical extravaganza, “Kshama Virasya Bhushanam” which narrates the ten lives of Prabhu Shri Parshwanath. Do not miss to attend this performance at the JAINA Convention.
In JAINA, we have a very niche committee that works to uplift the “Sarak Community” in India. Saraks (Shravak) are forgotten Jains, spread in east India – mainly in Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Orissa. They had to give up the Jain religion due to invasion from various rulers, droughts, and dominance from other communities. Still, culturally they continued to practice the Jain way of life. Check the articles and videos about the Sarak community below. I encourage you to volunteer for this committee by contacting Jatin Shah, who is available at the convention. Please contact him at the number mentioned below.
The Jain Society of Greater Detroit recently celebrated a Father’s Day picnic where center members of all ages came together and had a fantastic time. Look at photos from the event.
YJA hosted its first Virtual LR Retreat celebrating 43 Local Representatives from across all six regions. They had an evening full of scavenger hunts, debates, discussions on the importance of mental health relating to Jainism, and other fun activities that lasted the whole night.
Yours Sincerely,
Haresh Shah, JAINA President

JAINA Sarak Community Upliftment Committee Update
JAINA Sarak Community Upliftment Committee would like to educate all Jain families and members of JAINA about “Saraks – The Forgotten Jains.” Let's first understand who Saraks are . Sarak (Shravak) is a community spread across Jharkhand, Bihar, W. Bengal, and Orissa villages. As per our Jain Shastra/books, “Sarak” were all Jain followers since ancient times; however, they had to give up Jainism due to invasion from various rulers, droughts, and dominance from other communities.
With the help of Jain Scholars and Maharaj Sahebs in India, JAINA did ample research and provided more details about Saraks in JAINA Calendar 2023. Please find a soft copy of the JAINA calendar here.
In addition, please review this JAINA Website for more details at Sarak Community Upliftment.

YJP Update
|
YJA hosted a Virtual LR Retreat for the first time, celebrating 43 Local Representatives from across all six regions. They came together for an evening full of competitive scavenger hunts and Jain debates, discussed the importance of mental health relating to Jainism, cooked delicious burritos and smoothies, painted, and ended the night in YJA fashion with the all-nighter.
They’re thankful for all the hard work and dedication their Local Representatives have put in throughout the year through local events, retreat planning, virtual events, and so much more.
