Inside October 2022 Jain Digest

From an Iraq-war Veteran to a Jain Sadhvi by Sadhvi Siddhali Shree

This article is a transcript of Sadhvi Siddhali Shree’s talk at the TEDxCUNYSalon June 27,2022. In her speechshe describes her journey from an Iraq war veteran to becoming a Jain Sadhvi and also talks about Ahimsa. She points out that it is important to bring peace within ourselves if we want to bring peace in the world.

She says “By becoming non-violentyou'll totally change. You'll become a better human, more compassionate, understanding, thoughtful, humble, sensitive, loving, and forgiving. People will begin to wonder, "Why are you so different? Why are you so happy? Why are you so free?" Nonviolence is as good for you as it is for them and the world. And it's a skill anyone can learn.”
