Inside October 2021 Jain Digest:
|

After the first virtual global JAINA Convention
2021 in July, all the registrants were requested to fill out an opinion survey. Total 380 people from around the world had responded. One of the survey questions was “Tell us about which sessions/events
touched your heart.” We have published 80 responses to that question in this issue of Jain Digest.
Kusum Shah, one of the attendees from USA said, “Parul Somani, Rahul Kapoor Jain, Pujya Rakeshbhai and BK Sister Shivani were amazingly awesome personal improvement lectures and really touched our hearts!! Parul Somani was amazing speaker with good slides
and very helpful! Enjoyed the Dayro and Bhakti program very much!! The fact that JAINA 2021 was virtual made it very easy to join. Please allow the option of virtual in the future as well.“

Jain Center of Northern California (JCNC) joined hands with JAINA Ahimsa Meals and Fasting Committee to serve 2200 vegan Jain meals during Oct 1 to 3 Ahimsa week. On this occasion, a press conference was held at the crossings of Hedding and Spring near
Dolores Park, San Jose, and a television interview was given by Center President, Biren Shah and BOD Chair, Girishbhai Shah to KPIX television.
During the interview, Girish Shah, Chair of Silicon Valley Interreligious Council as well as JCNC said “There is an urgent need to change the narrative of Homelessness to create a better understanding of the causes of homelessness and its impact.”
Homelessness is a serious problem. A constant increase in the homeless population year after year will exacerbate the system. JCNC President, Biren Shah said “Compassion is an integral part of Jain Faith. Our volunteers cooked a nutritious meal in our
temple as an act of compassion.”
Partner Organizations: Agape, HomeFirst, Hope 4 The Unhoused, Opening Doors, PitStop Outreach, Arham Seva Group, Santa Clara County Homeless Union, Santa Clara University
Students.
Feedback received:
“Thank you very much for your awesome humanitarian work and for sharing your blessings, Girish, Biren, and Jain and all donors/supporters/partners! Great job, too.” Hope for
the Unhoused
“Thank you very much for your generous offer of meals yesterday (Sunday). The meal was delicious and a 'hit' with everyone. We received 70 packed meals, 4-5 cases of
coconut water, and a case of bananas.” LoretoQD's Brigade - Silicon Valley
