Dear Sadharmiks,
Jai Jinendra! Pranam!

Starting with the current edition, the Jain Digest magazine brings you a short essay on Jain sculptures and art collections in various museums in the USA and abroad. In this article written by Dhruti Rathi, she initiates a conversation around “Seated Jain Tirthankara” from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, “The Twenty-Four Jain Teachers” & “The Jain Teacher Shreyansanatha” from the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Please read the full article below.

Jain Center of Greater Sacramento (JCGS) organized its first-ever Dharmik Shivir for kids and adults from the 21st to the 23rd of July, 2023. On behalf of the JAINA family, I applaud this initiative and assure you of full support for more such programs in the future. Please find the brief report below for details.

I am delighted to share a recent event and report from the Jain Center of Southern California (JCSC). Through KalaCircle, a Comprehensive Art Program, JCSC organized a Culinary Thai Fusion Cooking Demo in collaboration with the Culinary Medicine Department at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). The workshop aimed to create dishes that promote well-being by reducing sugar intake and incorporating Jain principles like Unodari and Ras Tyaag. The event received a warm response and serves as an inspiring example for other centers to build practical bridges with Jain virtues.

Last month, Acharya Shree Lokesh Muniji received an honorable recognition in the California State Assembly for his unwavering dedication to promoting peace, harmony, and human values. The presence of the esteemed leadership team and members from the Jain Center of Northern California made the event even more special. We're thrilled to share this momentous occasion, celebrating the acknowledgment of his remarkable contributions.

The Jain Center of Greater Boston welcomed the esteemed Pujya Gurudev Shree Rakeshji Zaveri, who delivered an enlightening discourse on "Happiness." He unraveled its true essence with profound wisdom and debunked its association with mere comforts. Captivating pictures from this remarkable event below capture the essence of the enlightening experience.

As the Parliament of World Religions approaches, the Jain Center of Metropolitan Chicago prepares to make a significant impact. With a comprehensive plan in place, they will represent Jain Religion through scholarly lectures, cultural programs, and discussions on various Jain principles like forgiveness, world peace, and interfaith dialogues. Join us in promoting Jainism on this global platform. Check the details below for more information.

At JAINA, we wholeheartedly encourage cross-cultural and interfaith exchanges, fostering unity among diverse communities. In line with this spirit, six international students from the International School of Jain Studies (ISJS) had a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Jain teachings under Rashtrasant Param Gurudev Shree Namramuni Maharaj Saheb's guidance. Please check this extraordinary journey in the video below.

As the Jain Foundation celebrates its 4th anniversary, they have launched a unique 31-day Compassion and Digital Fasting Challenge from 29th August to 28th September, providing a novel way to observe Chaturmas this year. Participants have an exciting opportunity to win a visit to Varanasi, the holy city where four Tirthankars were born. Check out their presentation and registration link below for more details.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Haresh Shah,
JAINA President

JAINA Tree Plantation Project

JAINA Vaiyavach Committee has sponsored the plantation of 2,000 trees on the highway from Panchasar leading to Shankheshwar. These trees can live for 200 to 500 years and provide a shaded path for our Sadhu bhagwants, generate oxygen, cool the surroundings, and bring much-needed rains in that arid region.

You can support the plantation of 10 trees for just $500
