Jain Mahaparva, Paryushan/Das Lakshana is just around the corner! How are you planning to celebrate it this year? For starters, you can consider taking up one of the 5 Vrats or give up dairy products, wearing silk/leather for these 8/10 days of Paryushan/Das
Lakshana.
This Paryushan, JAINA brings two of the most inspiring speakers for 2021 Paryushan Parva - Rashtrasant Param Gurudev Shree Namramuni Maharaj Saheb and Shri Deepakbhai Bardoliwala who will give Pravachans in Hindi and Gujarati, respectively. Dash Lakshan
Maha Parva will have video class each day for about 30 minutes in Hindi language and will also have written article with the significance of each day. We are working on all Pratikraman schedues and will

Have you read the book “Think Like a Monk” by Jay Shetty? Inside the June 2021 Jain Digest, read the reflections on “Think Like a Monk” by Shruti Jain, where she mentions finding many parallels in the book with the Jain philosophy and our core beliefs.
The Jain Digest Committee invites you to write for the October 2021 Jain Digest on varied topics such as Compassion, Devotion, Jain Education, Inspiration, Transformation, or any other topics related to Jain principles, send us an email at jaindigestpublication@gmail.com
JAINA Education Committee addresses yet another interesting question. “As a Jain, should we get involved in issues related to social, humanitarian, political, economic, or environmental reform? How should we approach activism for such issues?”
Please take an official JAINA's Jain Population Survey and help us determine Jain population count in North America. This survey is very important to connect with each one of us to have a strong voice that brings value to our entire community. The survey
will also help us in finding out if one would like to receive: JAINA Calendar, JAINA communications with relevant Community news for Jain events and programs, etc.
Regarding Jain Senior Assisted Living Project in the USA, we received a very good response and are looking forward to receiving more replies from senior citizens 65 years and older to live with people of similar age and intrests. Please fill out the form
given below for our analysis.
We often find ourselves blaming people or circumstances as the cause of our bondage. Pujya Gurudev Rakeshbhai encourages us to pause and reflect. Is it possible that something external can bind us?
Currently, YJA is also accepting applications for the 2021-2022 YJA Executive Board. Please make sure the interested Young Jains around you know about it.

Inside June 2021 Jain Digest
Reflections on Jay Shetty’s Book “Think Like a Monk” by Shruti Jain
Although there are many religions and faiths in the World, at the core they all guide the followers to achieve inner peace and bliss. Shruti Jain explores this fact in her review of Jay Shetty’s book.
Shruti says “As I started reading ‘Think Like A Monk’, I was in awe after seeing so many parallels to Jain philosophy and our core beliefs. In Jainism, the purest form of the soul exhibits total bliss, ultimately achieving a state of inner peace. It is
precisely this inner peace that Jay writes about, guiding us through a meditative excursion with three checkpoints: Let Go, Grow, and Give.
Let me be your tour guide as we walk through his guided trail.”

Jain View on Activism
JAINA Education Committee addresses
yet another interesting question “As a Jain, should we get involved in issues related to social, humanitarian, political, economic, or environmental reform? How should we approach activism
for such issues?”
This is an overarching question and so relevant for the current times. There are so many issues we are facing as a society and we see a need for all of us to do our part to lessen any negative impact, relieve suffering and contribute in whatever positive
ways we can. At times there is passivity about getting involved when a particular issue doesn’t directly impact one’s self, and we miss out on opportunities to practice and promote compassion
for our interconnected wholeness.
With this article, JAINA Education Committee aims to create awareness and provide a logical thought process that might help us decide on various aspects of activism like – does being a Jain allows us to be an activist on any issue? Which causes should
we get involved with and how can we go about bringing the change? Read the article in the link below.

Jain Senior Assisted Living Project in the USA
We are calling out Jain Senior Citizens (65 years and older) of the USA who are seeking a place to live with people of similar age and interests to enjoy their lives. JAINA is building ‘Jain Senior Assisted Living Project in the USA’ to help Jain Senior
citizens. If you seek a place that provides food, games, medical help, spiritual lectures, meditations, bhakti, and more under one roof or you want to spend your time with people who
have similar interests and mindsets, please fill out the
Seniors Intake Form for us to analyze and plan the project accordingly.
Through this project, JAINA aims to help the Jain senior citizens develop meaningful relationships with people of similar interests. JAINA believes that through community amenities, many residents find new friends who share similar interests. These connections
are made stronger by living near each other and friendships in senior living are often very strong and meaningful.

Bondage Is Your Choice
We often find ourselves
blaming people or circumstances as the cause of our bondage. Gurudevshri Rakehsbhai encourages us to pause and reflect. Is it possible that something external can bind us? We are all
very familiar with our external world. However, there is another completely unknown realm within us - that of Pure Consciousness. The external world being perceptible means everything
to us. We get so caught up in it, that we have no relationship with the inner consciousness. How are we so bound to the world that we remain oblivious of the divinity in each one of us?
