The last date to apply for the need-based educational scholarship is 18th June. Until now, JAINA has disbursed scholarships of almost US$ 45K, and growing year after year. Interested students and their parents are requested to check the details as mentioned below and connect quickly. Fellow community members are requested to extend their best support for this “Scholarship Program”.

JAINA’s Telemedicine Pilot Program is in the final stage now. This pilot program is available to our community in the USA, Canada, and Sadhu Sadhviji in India. Physicians and Dentists who can provide e-consultation are requested to connect with Dr. Girish Shah at the details mentioned below.

This year June month seems to be full of events and excitement everywhere. A grand Pratishtha Mohotsav at Toronto is scheduled for the entire second half of this month, from 15 to 28 June. The Jain Society of Toronto invites everyone to grace this auspicious occasion. Please check their invitation below.

Dr. Bipin Doshi - a renowned Jain Scholar from Mumbai University and the chairman of “JAINA India Foundation,” will be on his 2nd Ahimsa Yatra to the USA from June 29 to September 20, 2023. If your Jain center wishes to call him to conduct any lecture after the JAINA Convention 2023, please get in touch with him through the details given below.

Due to the overwhelming response from around 18 countries, Samkit Group has extended the last date for registration to 20th June 2023 for their flagship program, “Hum Chale Pathshala 2.0”. Under this program, upon completion of 68 attendance & 68 gatha in a year, one can win lots of surprise gifts. During this Chaturmas, Jain Centers can contact Akhil Bhartiya Sanskruti Rakshak Dal, who has successfully been conducting the program “Tapovan Paryushan Aradhana” since 1981. Under the divine blessing of Shree Chandrashekhar Vijayji Maharaj Saheb, an army of “Veer-Sainiks” are nurtured to facilitate Paryushan Aradhana at places where the presence of Pujya Sadhu Bhagwant cannot be anticipated. This also includes reading our sacred texts like Kalpasutra and Ashtanhika Granth during the holy Paryushan Festival. And finally, on behalf entire JAINA family, I pay my heartfelt Shraddhanjali to the two prominent Jain Scholars from Jaipur, Dr. Hukum Chand Ji Bharill and Dr. Sanjeev Ji Godha, whom we lost so back-to-back. In Memory of Two Prominent Jain Scholars Dr. Hukum Chand Ji Bharill and Dr. Sanjeev Ji Godha - By Rajendra Jain

Within a short span of 37 days in the first quarter of 2023 the Jain community has lost two prominent Jain scholars from Jaipur, India – a torch bearer of Pujya Kanji Swami Dr. Hukum Chand Ji Bharill and his young disciple Dr. Sanjeev Ji Godha. They both were accomplished orators whose mission in life was to spread Bhagwan Mahavir’s message to the masses.

In this article our Section Editor Rajendra Jain who personally knew both these luminaries very well, offers his heartfelt Shraddhanjali to them and educates us on their illustrious lives.

JAINA Scholarship Program 2023

JAINA has established a needs-based scholarship program to assist and encourage our students to further their college education and better connect with youth. We are accepting applications at https://tinyurl.com/JainaStudentAppl2023 till June 18, 2023.

Criteria:

1. To apply to this needs-based program,
   • The student or student's parent must be a member of a JAINA-affiliated Jain Center.
   • The student must be eligible to attend undergraduate college during 2023-24.
   • The student must be a citizen or a permanent resident of the US and Canada.
2. An independent Scholarship Committee will evaluate all applications, primarily based on the criteria of financial necessity. Merit, submitted essays, and recommendation letters shall also be given due consideration in the assessment process. Applicants with the last two years' average family income (AGI) > $120K will not be considered.
3. Applications must be submitted through the online form by June 18th, 2023. Additional documents, as requested, must be submitted by June 30th, 2023.
4. During the evaluation process, the Scholarship Committee will ensure the confidentiality of the information submitted.

JAINA Telehealth Initiative - Shoutout to Physicians and Dentists

The JAINA Telehealth committee is actively looking out for Physicians and Dentists from the USA and Canada who are excited to join us in working towards improving the community's access to quality healthcare.

As one of the Telehealth pilot projects, the Primary Care Program will allow physicians and Dentists in JAINA to offer remote patient consultation using a secure, low-cost digital connection. Dr. Girish J. Shah - DDS, MPH and Ph.D, is leading this initiative and invites Physicians and Dentists from USA and Canada to join as a volunteer in the team. 2nd Ahimsa Yatra USA tour by Dr. Bipin Doshi

Dr. Bipin Doshi, a Jain Scholar from Dept of Philosophy at Mumbai University, and Chairman of JAINA India Foundation will visit the USA from June 29 to Sept 20, 2023, mainly to attend the JAINA Convention in Lakeland (Florida). Except for the convention days, he will be available to any Jain Center/ University/ Non-Jain groups, if they wish to conduct any lecture or workshop on Jainism with a particular focus on the Scientific foundation of Jain Philosophy, principles, and practices. Last year he successfully conducted such workshops in Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Cleveland, Richmond, Athens, and Tampa. It is without any cost to any Jain Centers.
