We all are working hard to help people in our Motherland. Oxygen seems to be the largest need at this time. While Oxygen Concentrators are great short-term help, this crisis offers us a very unique opportunity to help with Oxygen Plants that will last several years. Please see the attached Power Point presentation prepared to explain the working of plants and how you can contribute to make them a reality!

Three families have offered a total of $ 700,000 provided we all Jains rise and match them. They are Manu & Rika Shah (Sarva Mangal Family Trust), Drs. Jasvant & Meera Modi and
Mahesh & Usha Wadher (The Wadher Family Foundation). We hope that we all will rise to these challenges in procuring oxygen plants.

No amount is small. You can form a group of either family or friends or with members of your Jain Center and seek matching funds. You may donate individually to JAINA. You may also Donate to JAINA - Humanitarian Aid.

JAINA has formed an official “JAINA - Jain Population Survey Committee” to survey the Jain population of North America. The estimate for Jain Population varies from 80,000 to 150,000 in North America. The JAINA (official) Survey will be limited in scope to reflect the nature of our households in numbers for our vibrant Jain Population enabling us in predicting and providing needs and services for our Community.

This official JAINA survey is different in scope and utility from other surveys in circulation - It is only a single-page survey. It is a survey of our Jain Population requesting basic information for our Jain families and to determine if one would like to receive: JAINA Calendar, messages from JAINA President, Newsletters, or JAINA Communications with relevant Community news for Jain events and programs. The survey is designed for JAINA to serve the community better.

The information collected by JAINA has never been compromised and will not be shared with any other organization.

Praying or Begging?

Prayer instead of manifesting serenity within has become an act of noisy demanding prattle. Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai explains how prayer is a state of gratitude that emerges out of contentment with what is

God wants to drench you in His grace but you are not ready for it yet. God wants to meet you. God is seeking you. But you are nowhere to be found. You are wandering hither and thither goaded by your desires. Desire simply means - I am not happy with what I am. I will be happy if I get something special or if something unique happens. I am unhappy with what I have and I want what I do not have. Life becomes sorrowful not because of what you have or don’t but because of your attitude of begging. Life afterlife, you have gotten into the habit of asking.

Jain Path of Liberation - Part 3

Right Conduct (Samyak Charitra) Proper, correct, appropriate, and truly natural conduct of the living being (soul) is known as right conduct. The main purpose for a human being is to free himself from attachment (raga) and aversion (dvesha). That is to be free from all impure activities of thought, word, and deed. This will attain the state of perfect equanimity.

For practical purposes, right conduct comprises ethical codes, rules, and disciplines, which a human being is required to pursue the ultimate freedom.

The real benefit of this story is not just in memorizing it, discussing it, and performing a drama based upon it. Of course, these are all good auspicious activities to remind us of the legend; but we can get the most value from it if we dig deeper and study her reactions to difficult life events. We need to view them as a reflection of her praiseworthy inner state and find the lessons to mold our own day-to-day conduct.
