Importance of Charity in Various Religions
by Narendra Bhandari
As we practice Ahimsa and progress on the spiritual path, we become more compassionate. Our attachment to worldly possessions decreases, and the desire to do something to help our fellow human beings increases. Hence it is logical to see why most religions give importance to humanitarian services and charitable giving.
In this article, Narendraji tells us about various literary writings in Jainism, Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism that emphasize the importance of helping those in need. He also provides us with a list of areas where there is a desperate need for support. He says
We should try to find worthy causes that we want to support We should not wait for them to come to us. We should try to reconnect with and help them as soon as possible.”

Jain Center of Greater Sacramento
The Jain Center of Greater Sacramento (JCGS) celebrated the auspicious event of “Shatrunjay Mahatirth Chha Gau Bhaav Yatra” on March 12, 2023, for the first time in the history of JCGS. The members of the Sangh came together and worked tirelessly for four weeks to build the “Deri replica models” we have in Palitana.
Kiritbhai Bavishi led the entire Yatra. The Sangh also performed five “Samuhik Chaityavandans” that were recited impeccably by the young Pathshala kids. The volunteers also planned for “Vaiyavach” and Food “Paals” to have the same level of experience as we do at Mahatirth Shatrunjay on this auspicious day.
JCGS is grateful for the blessing of Prabhuji, the community's support, and the volunteers' hard work to make this event memorable. Please watch the event here.
JCGS is committed to continuing to grow and evolve and take the Sangh to the next level to provide the ultimate Jainism platform for future generations in the Greater Sacramento Area.
