True Love by Gurudevshri RAKESHBHAI
|
Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai explains True love saying Even though you are surrounded by things you covet and people you love, such love is incomplete, and it is only
love for the Divine that can lead us to experience peace and fulfillment.
Love is a beautiful state of being. Love means to dissolve the ‘I’, the ego. As love blooms, the ‘I’ looses its importance and eventually ceases to exist.
With annihilation of the ‘I’, the one who loves, and the beloved become one. There remains no distance between the two. It is not even appropriate to say that they
come extremely close to each other, because in closeness also there is a distance. Love makes them one. The fulfilment of love lies in the union of the two. In pure
love, there is neither the ‘I’ nor the pain caused by it.
Love is a natural expression of life. Love is a pilgrimage. Those who have reached the Supreme state have done so because of love, and those who have
not, have faltered due to lack of Pure love. It is therefore necessary to understand the nature of love. Love is of three kinds - (1) love for things (2) love for
people (3) love for Guru

INSIDE FEBRUARY 2021 JAIN DIGEST
|
 Popat Savla:
A Humble Love Affair with Life - By Nipun Mehta
Popatbhai Savla was a very kind-hearted generous philanthropist, an avid lover of Indian classical music and an ardent spiritual seeker from Los Angeles.
Recalling an incident at a retreat when Popatbhai’s face was full of mosquito bites, Nipun Mehta says, “ I saw his face full of mosquito bites. To my petrified look,
particularly as a host, he laughed and simply said, “I was practicing generosity last night. I offered my blood to the mosquitoes.” Read this article at

Meat Consumption and its Damaging Impact on the Planet
|
 Read the excerpts
from Chatham House Report on Meat Consumption and Imminent Danger to our planet.
The report, supported by the UN environment program focused on three solutions. First is a shift to plant-based diets because cattle, sheep, and other
livestock have the biggest impact on the environment.
More than 80% of global farmland is used to raise animals, which provide only 18% of calories eaten. Reversing the rising trend of meat consumption removes
the pressure to clear new land and further damage wildlife.
It also frees up existing land for the second solution, restoring native ecosystems to increase biodiversity. The availability of land also underpins
the third solution of farming in a less intensive and damaging way but accepting lower yields. Organic yields are on, average, about 75% of those of conventional intensive
farming, it said.
