2nd International Jain Conference
|
On January 21-22, 2023, the 2nd International Jain Conference was jointly organized by Shrut Ratnakar (Ahmedabad) and JAINA (USA) in Ahmedabad. The conference was supported by World Jain Confederation (Mumbai), Shrut Bhavan (Pune), Bharat Shodh Sansthan (Ahmedabad), Gujarat University, and JITO (Ahmedabad). The theme of this conference was Khṣamā - Forgiveness. During the conference, 30 scholars from all over India presented their views on forgiveness from different perspectives. Scholars like Prof. Vijay Kumar Jain (Lucknow), Prof. Anekant Kumar Jain (Delhi), Prof. Dharmchand Jain (Jaipur), Prof. Abhay Doshi, Bipin Doshi, Sejal Shah, etc. (Mumbai) participated in this conference. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Himanshu Pandya, Vice Chancellor, of Gujarat University and Acharya Nandighoshsuri delivered the keynote address while Prof. Yatin Pandya and Dr. Bhupesh Shah were present during the closing ceremony. "Surishwar ane Samrat" monologue was presented on the first day of the conference.
Students and learners were present in huge numbers on both days. JAINA President Haresh Shah and JAINA founding member and Past President Dilip Shah attended this event.
Prof. Jitendra B. Shah, Director - Shrut Ratnakar, delivered a speech on the significance of forgiveness and its advantages. He said "Forgiveness is an important virtue. It brings various chaos and problems prevalent in one's life to an end. Forgiveness is one of the most important qualities to lead a happy life. Both - the forgiver and the forgiven are great. Today, this virtue is slowly disappearing from the lifestyle of laymen. Battles are being fought around the world and there is a rise in social and family problems. The main reason for this is not forgiving or not asking for forgiveness. Because of this, even the smallest problems and issues take up the form of battles. "
Discussion of forgiveness at the international level was the main goal of this conference. Various scholars from all around the world were present at this conference. JAINA is grateful to everyone for making this conference successful. Please look at a glimpse of the conference here. Announcements regarding the theme and dates for the 3rd International Jain Conference, which will take place during the coming year, will be made soon.
