Gujarati Lectures

(૧) મનુષ્યત્વ, (૨) સદ્દગુરુ (૩) સતશાસ્ત્ર અને (૪) શ્રદ્ધા અને સંયમ

તપઅને પરિષહનો અર્થ સમજાવ્યો છે. તપના પ્રકાર અને તેનું મહત્વ સમ્યગદર્શનની અનુભૂતિ માટે જણાવ્યું છે. ભગવાન મહાવીરે ઉગ્ર અને દીર્ઘ તપ કર્યું છે. જૈન ધર્મમાં તપનું મહત્વ છે-ઇચ્છાનો નિરોધ તપ છે. તપનો નિશ્ચય ભાવ વ્યવહારમાં ઉપયોગી છે. ઈચ્છાઓનો નિરોધ તપ છે.

પાંચ ઇંદ્રિયોની વિષય અવસ્થા જીવનને સમકિતથી દૂર રાખે છે. જાગૃતિના આ પર્વને ગુણોના વિકાશ તરફ લઇ જવાનું છે. ભગવાને બાર વર્ષના તપમાં માત્ર એક વર્ષ આહાર સ્વીકાર્યો હતો, ધ્યાન પણ ઉભા રહીને તીવ્ર અને ઉગ્ર તપસ્યા અને જીવો પ્રત્યે કરુણા અને વાત્સલ્ય.
