Dear Sadharmiks,
Jai Jinendra! Pranam!
Every year on the day of Bakri Eid we see millions of animals are slaughtered across the world as an integral part of the festival. We cannot stop this slaughter completely, but what we can do is observe Tap for the animals whose lives ended and pray to take us all on the path of humanity and compassion. Please join us in observing one day Fast or Ayambil on Bakri Eid and pray for their souls to find peace.
Inside the Jain Digest June 2022, Hema Pokharna brings to us the story of Sindhutai Sapkal. A woman who was considered as Mother Teresa of Maharashtra state in India. Read about her ability to overcome unimaginable pain & struggle, her compassion & devotion, her ability to forgive & be grateful, and her humility & detachment.
JAINA-ALC, along with the Jain Center of Greater Boston and the International Center of Jainism and Science, has organized a 2-day International Symposium on July 9-10, 2022. Please watch the event on Zoom. Details are mentioned below.
We are so happy to see Jain Center of New Jersey celebrating the 24 Bhavtirth Yatra at a grand scale and make it a dazzling success. Please check their photos below. This is a great ways to bring the community together and spread Jainism.
Watch an Indian-American teen sharing his thoughts on Karma during a TEDx event by local community.
Sincerely,
Haresh Shah, JAINA President

Join Us In Fasting On Bakri Eid
Every year on the day of Bakri Eid millions of animals, most prominently goats but also cows, sheep, buffalos, and camels are slaughtered across the world as an integral part of the Islamic festival.
To counter the killings and express our solidarity with the animals, JAINA encourages each one of you and your family members to observe a Tap like Fasting or Ayambil. The idea behind this voluntary penance is to inflict suffering on oneself and share the pain of the animals that are slaughtered on the day of Bakri Eid. We request you to join us in fasting as well as encourage others to do Tap.
