Why Yoga is Good for Your Body and Brain
By Jaylissa Zheng and Dacher Keltner
Today in the US, more than 36 million people practice yoga on a regular basis. They likely practice one of a couple of kinds of yoga that derive from Vedic yoga and involve 12
basic postures, with names like a plow, fish, cobra, locust, and bow pose. In addition to these metaphorical descriptions that add significance to the body’s movements, this kind of yoga
also involves the teaching of deep breathing patterns and a focus on being present and mindful.
Does this practice work? Indeed, in the past decade, the emerging science of yoga has been uncovering the significant health and happiness benefits of this ancient practice.

The Secret of Prayer
|
|
|
Have you ever found yourself wondering why in spite of praying so hard, you still feel an emptiness within? Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai asks to Introspect and check whether it was a true prayer, or only a demand for the fulfilment of your own desires.
A disciple asked his Guru, ‘Do prayers reach God?’ The Guru replied, ‘You have not understood the purpose of prayer. A prayer is meant for you to reach God, not for your prayer to reach God. When a flower blossoms it spreads its fragrance. Does the fragrance
reach someone? This question is futile, for the purpose of the flower is to bloom, not to ensure that the fragrance reaches someone.’

Vows of Householders - Part 1
|
|
Last time, we learned the Great Vows (Mahavrats) of Ascetics. Now, we will learn about the Twelve Limited Vows of Householders by Pravin K. Shah of the JAINA Education Committee.
Monks are very keen about the uplift of their souls and hence they sacrifice all worldly enjoyments, family relationships, and adopt the five great vows (Maha-vratas). For those who want to remain in family life and for whom complete avoidance of five
principle sins are difficult, Jain ethics specifies the following twelve vows to be carried out by the householder.
Of this twelve vows, the first five are main vows of limited nature (Anuvratas). They are somewhat easier in comparison with great vows (Maha-vratas), which are for the ascetics. The next three vows are known as merit vows (Guna-vratas), so-called because
they enhance and purify the effect of the five main vows and raise their value manifold. It also governs the external conduct of an individual. The last four are called disciplinary vows
(Shikhsa-vratas). They are intended to encourage the person in the performance of their religious duties. They reflect the purity of one's heart. They govern one's internal life and are
expressed in a life that is marked by charity. They are preparatory to the discipline of an ascetic's life.

games, medical help, spiritual lectures, meditations, bhakti, and more under one roof or you want to spend your time with people who have similar interests and mindsets, please fill out the
