Dear Sadharmiks,
Jai Jinendra! Pranam!
Today, on April
30th, JAINA is having its first BOD Meeting of the year 2022. This in-person meeting is where we meet JAINA directors, share JAINA and each committee updates, discuss the future plans
and have an interacting session.
The Vaiyavach Committee of JAINA along with Shrut Ratnakar invites you to watch the Surishvar and Samrat Drama online on April 30, 2022. It is a fund-raising event in support of the Shrut Ratnakar’s Adhyayan Kendra. We request you to support this noble
cause by taking donation opportunities.
Bindesh Shah, the first V. P. of JAINA and the convener of the 2023 JAINA Convention invites everyone to the next convention in Lakeland, FL.
Inside February 2022 Jain Digest, read an intersting article by Kira Newman on 'How Purpose Changes Across Your Lifetime'. She describes that the purpose is something we can cultivate through deliberate action and reflection, and it will naturally wax and wane throughout our lives. Like happiness, purpose is not a destination, but a journey and a practice.
Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago observed Navpad Oli with lots of positive energy and zest. They also celebrated the birth of Bhagwan Mahavir on a grand scale! Read more about it below.
Tapovan Sanskarpith is hosting NRI shibir for kids from July 10th to 17th, 2022. Find registration and other details below.
Sincerely,
Haresh Shah, JAINA President

How Purpose Changes Across Your Lifetime
by Kira M. Newman
Most of us think a purpose in life is having some big achievement, big goal that we pursue. However, according to researchers, purpose is a long-term aim that is meaningful to the self—but goes beyond the self, aiming to make a difference to the broader world. We might find purpose in fighting poverty, creating art, or making people’s lives better through technology.
Kira M. Newman, the managing editor of “Greater Good” says,”We don’t have to worry about finding our one true purpose; we can find purpose in different areas of life. In fact, purpose isn’t something we find at all. It’s something we can cultivate through deliberate action and reflection, and it will naturally wax and wane throughout our lives. Like happiness, purpose is not a destination, but a journey and a practice. That means it’s accessible at any age, if we’re willing to explore what matters to us and what kind of person we want to be—and act to become that person.”

Navpad Oli was observed with lots of positive
energy and zest at the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago. They celebrated the birth of Bhagwan Mahavir on a grand scale! Some of the events they performed were Laghu Siddhachakra
Pujan on all days of oli, a melodious musical bhavana by their own Mahila Mandal, a devotional Siddha Chakra Pujan, a spectacular cultural show put together by JSMC Pathshala students
and members, a declamation contest with about 70 participants from different age groups and many other religious ceremonies. It was very fulfilling to see the enthusiasm and happy
faces all around.
