MAITRI BHAAV

Maitri-Bhaav – a play provides an insider's view on Jain philosophy told through snippets of the life of a trailblazing revolutionary person, Muni Chitrabhanuji, whose ideas have left an indelible mark on Jainism today.

Seamlessly moving between Jainism's history, paintings, performing art, music, and literature, western philosophy and Chitrabhanu's own life; the play tackles the themes of detachment, attachment, grief, and redemption while addressing specific fundamental questions of human existence regarding the meaning of identity, existence, and the true purpose of life.

‘Maitri-Bhaav' is that rare, uncanny mixture of spiritual preaching, personal narrative, philosophical lecture, and stand-up comedy - all rolled into one, delivered on the rhythms of music.

Param Krupalu Dev: A Spiritual Revolutionary and a Social Reformer by Reena Shah

Shrimad Rajchandra, lovingly known as Param Krupalu Dev among his followers was born in 1867. He was a gyani, poet, mystic, philosopher, and a reformer. Not many people know him as a social reformer. He lived during a time when India was plagued with social evils like gender inequality, child marriage, lack of proper education (especially in women), and adherence to caste system. Through his writings, Param Krupalu Dev dispelled the darkness of such thoughts and played an instrumental role in revolutionizing the thought process of society. He wrote Stri Niti Bodhaka (The Nature of Ideal Moral Life for Women, 1884) when he was only 16 years old.

In this article, Reena Shah explains the advice Shrimadjihas provided in the Stri Niti Bodhaka book, tells us about Shrimadji’s efforts to reform society and his views on marriage.

JAINA Tree Planting Project

JAINA Vaiyavach Committee is sponsoring the planting of 2,000 trees on the highway leading to Sankheswara. These trees can live for 200 to 500 years and provide a shaded path for our Sadhu bhagwants, generate oxygen, cool the surroundings, and bring much-needed rains in that arid region.

You can support the planting of 10 trees for just $500
