Jain Center News

With an aim to raise awareness, the Jain Study Center of North Carolina has decided to incorporate a 30 minute “Holistic Living” segment to each of their monthly meetings to bring in speakers who will focus on each of the three areas: Mind, Body & Soul. The center will have its inaugural session with a guest speaker, Mrs. Jyotiben Shah.

According to the Holistic Living Institute, holistic living is a lifestyle that nourishes your mind, body, and soul. And although that sounds a little like a quote from a Life Coach, many of us already practice holistic living to a varying degree as we incorporate “Jain” values in our lives. A holistic lifestyle is a way of living life that lets you look at the big picture – the whole person. The goal is not to focus on only one area - diet, exercise, spiritual health, etc. but really focus on everything since it’s all interconnected. For example, if you aren’t getting enough sleep (body) because you are anxious (mind), you may withdraw from your friends and family (soul). They all work together, and they all affect each other.

JAINA really appreciates this great initiative by the Jain Study Center of North Carolina and encourages other Jain centers to produce such innovative ideas to uplift the community by bringing it together.
