Arihant Sharan of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Godha


JAINA extends our deepest condolences to the Jain community on Arihant Sharan of Dr. Sajeev Kumarji Godha on February 17, 2023, in Mumbai, India. Dr. Godha was in deep meditation in his last days, reciting shloks from various Jain scriptures. His departure from this world is a significant loss to the Jain community; we will miss his presence.

He was a well-renowned Jain scholar who touched many lives through his teachings and lectures. He aimed to teach Jain Tatvas and Principles to everyone logically and scientifically. He was invited worldwide to many Jain Centers and received numerous awards and recognition for his work on spreading Jain Philosophy. He has attended almost all JAINA Conventions and JAANA Shibirs in the last several years as a Scholar and delivered lectures to thousands of Jains in the US. Many of his listeners say that he kickstarted their spiritual journey through his teachings and interactive graphical 3D presentations, which helped listeners learn and understand the Jain Universe. A Delight to the Mind’s Eye - Jain Chhod Patas by Lynna Dhanani

“Visualizing Devotion” is anexhibitionof a collection of chhod patascurrently being held at the Fowler Museum at UCLA.Most of us that have grown up in India have seenchhod patas- the beautiful tapestry made of velvet and satin,lavishly embroidered with gold and silver-gilt thread - in temples &upashrayas. We alsoknow that they depict pilgrimage sites and stories from Jain mythology. But often we miss out on the details and the message these art forms convey.

Jain Talks - 175th Session


The Jain Foundation (TJF) invites you to the 175th session of Jain Talks.

Banarasidas was a Shrimal Jain businessman and poet of Mughal India. He is known for his poetic autobiography - Ardhakathānaka, composed in Braj Bhasa, an early dialect of Hindi linked with the region around Mathura. It is the first autobiography written in the Indian language. Banarasidas is also known for his works Moha Vivek Yuddha, Banārasi Nāmamāla (1613), Banārasivilāsa (1644), Samayasāra Nātaka (1636) along with Ardhakathanaka (1641) in Braj Bhasa.

In the 175th episode of JainTalks, we will learn more about the life of Kavivar Shree Banarasi Das Ji.
