Why Jain
Milan?
As the next generation of
Jain Americans begins to assimilate into Western culture, it becomes
increasingly challenging to meet those that hold similar beliefs and religious
values. Though websites and e-mail communication help to a certain extent,
nothing comes close to meeting potential suitors in person. We have witnessed
many Indian organizations holding successful events to provide an opportunity
for young adults to have a face-to-face meeting. We felt now it was time to
create a forum for the Jain youth.
What is Jain Milan?
Jain Milan is an opportunity for Jain youth (age 21 and older) throughout
North America and around the world to meet in person, to make friends, to
engage in networking, to develop business contacts and to possibly find a life
partner. Jain Milan is organized to encourage our Jain youth to meet other
Jains for the purpose of matrimony and to facilitate a face-to-face meeting.
Jain Milan believes in Jain family values and will work hard to preserve these
values. With events like Jain Milan, we hope to achieve our goal to preserve
Jain traditions and values in our next generation and strengthen our community.

152 participants out of 167
registered participants attended the convention- 81 female (53%) and 71 male
(47%). 120 of the registered participants (72%) were between the age of 21 and
29 years and rest 47 participants (28%) were 30 years of age or above. 65 (39%)
of the participants have BA degree, 35 (21%) of then have MS degree, 25 (15%)
of them have MD or JD degree, 25 (15%) of them have MBA degree, 10 (6%) of them
have Ph.D. or Pharm. D. and. 4 of them have other college education. Besides
Medicine, Law and Pharmacy professions, 55 of them are working as Engineers or
computer Science professionals and 35 of them are working in Finance or
Business. 122 (73%) participants have US Citizenship, 23 have US Visa, 14 have
US Green card, 6 have Canadian Citizenship and 1 each has UK and Singapore citizenship.

There were 93 registered
participants at the convention- 42 female (45%) and 51 male (55%). 73 of the
registered participants (79%) were between the age of 21 and 29 years and rest
20 participants (21%) were 30 years of age or above. 32 (34%) of the
participants have BA degree, 30 (32%) of then have MS degree, 18 (19%) of them
have MD or JD degree, 9 (10%) of them have MBA degree, 3(3%) of them have Ph.D.
or Pharm. D. or CPA, 1 of them have other college education. 66 participants
have US Citizenship, 17 have US Visa, 6 have US Green card and 3 have Canadian,
1 has UK citizenship.

What is the dress code for the convention?
Dress code for the entire convention, aside from the
outdoor activities, is formal/semi formal (no jeans, sneakers, hats, etc).
Participants are encouraged to wear suits/business attire or Indian dress. Dress to impress! Bring tennis racquets,
games, jeans/shorts, sneakers, hat etc with you for outdoor picnic on Saturday.

There is no limit. We encourage you to meet as many
participants as possible.

About Registration:
What is the
age limit of the participants?
Jain
youths 21 and older throughout North America and around the world can register.
We encourage
all young Jain adults who are in 20’s and 30’s to register. Parents are not
attending “JAIN MILAN 2009” convention. Show your photo ID and a proof
of DOB at the convention.
How
do I register and make a payment for “Jain Milan 2009”?
To
register complete the registration form available on web site and mail it to
Gunvant Shah, Jain Milan, 12 Ascot Place, North Brunswick, NJ 08902, USA along
with 2" X 2" professional quality color photo. Group Discount Registration price until 3/7/09 is $300 for
2, $465 for 3, $700 for 5, $1300 for 10. Registration price until 03/07/09 is $160, until 3/21/09 is $200 and
until 4/10/09 is $250. Register before March 21st, 09 to be
included in the souvenir. Registration fee after March 21st, 09 is
$250. Your bio-data will not be included in the souvenir
if the payment is received after March 21st, 09. Bio-date on a separate page will be
inserted if registration is received by March 31st, 2009. Please, make check or money order payable to “JAIN MILAN 2009”. Sorry, No credit cards

When can I get the participant’s registration number?
You will receive the registration number on the first
day of the convention on Friday April 10th, 09. How do I cancel my registration or update my profile?
For cancellation of registration or to update your

What are the benefits of registering for “Jain Milan
2009”?
You can meet and get to know the other people and
continue to make contact with them after the matrimonial convention. You can
build a firm network of friendship.
About souvenir:
What is in the souvenir?
It includes partial bio-data with pictures of the
participants registered through March 21rd, 09. It will be available
to participants on Friday, April 10th, 09 after arrival at the Hall.
When
can I get the souvenir with bio-data and pictures of the participants?
During the official registration on the first day of
the convention on April 10th, 2009, each participant will receive a
souvenir with partial bio-data and a photo of each participant.
Can I get souvenir without participating in the
convention?
You can get the souvenir only if you have paid and registered for the convention.
Souvenir will be available to participants on the evening of Friday April 10th,
2009. It is not available for sale.
Can you send me a booklet with bio-data and pictures
of the participants in advance before we decide to make an expensive trip?
Only registered participants may receive bio-data of
the participants via E-mail (without pictures and without contact information)
on or before April 8nd, 2009.
If I register and cannot make the convention, what
happens to the registration fees? Will I
still be able to get a souvenir?
Registration fees are non refundable. Check T & C.
We do make souvenir available to registered participants at the convention.
Arrangement can be made after the convention if your registration is not
cancelled.
Is it okay if I send a picture 2.5" x 3.5"
in size, since here in Canada they do not produce a picture with the dimensions
2"X2"?
Yes, we will manage the size of the picture during
scanning.
I may not be able to have professional pictures taken
before March 21st. Is it possible to register first and then send
the pictures?
We may not be able to include your photo if it is not
received by March 21st.
Bio-date on a separate page will be
inserted if registration is received by March 31, 2009
Can I send my picture to you via email?
Yes, But hard copy is preferred to get better
resolution of your picture.
I wanted to know if a colored paper copy of my picture
will be fine for the 2"x2" picture. Does the paper quality affect
your copying the picture?
For best results, we strongly recommend you to send
2" X 2" professional quality color photos.
JainMilan Souvenir:
A 60
page souvenir with partial bio data and photograph of the participantswas
professionally designed and printed on 80 pound coated papers. Four pages were
inserted in the souvenir with the bio data of the participants who registered 2
days prior to the convention. The graphic art for the four color cover page was
designed by artist depicting Jain Center of America –NY temple and matrimonial
symbol. Six pages of the souvenirs were supported by the financial supporters,
Jain Centers (NJ, NY, Detroit, Huston and Boston) and well wishers. These pages were decorated
with magnificent temples from India and Detroit. All
participants received a souvenir with partial bio data and professional
photographs. Those who could not attend the convention received a copy of the
souvenir via postal mail. All the participants, volunteers, JAINA
representatives and financial supporters received their customized and
professionally designed four colors Jain Milan
Name Badges to easily identify them. Participant’s age was incorporated in
their ID Number so that no participant had to inquire about each other’s age.
Airport transportation and Hotel
accommodation:
We
recommend you call Gunvant shah at 732-246-4030 before you buy airplane ticket.
You should prefer JFK airport rather than La Guardia Airport. You should arrive at JFK before 3PM on Friday and the
departure flight should be after 6pm on Sunday. Newark (EWR) NJ airport
is not recommended. It is too far from Long Island. You should take a train to
Hicksville train station from airport Transportation from hotel to the Hall
will be provided. If you are not from local area, you may stay at Residence Inn by Marriot, 9
Gerhard Road, Plainview NY 11803 Phone: (516) 433-6200 for Jain Milan discount price of $139 for two double bed room. We will
