As steadfast believer in Jivdaya, we Jains have a moral obligation to help out the survivors of this calamity. The Survivors urgently need basic necessities like Water, food, Clothes, shelter and Medical Supplies. We have already sent 5,000 hygienic kits with Fairfax County Rescue squads.

As in many instances in the past, JAINA World Community Service (WCS) always gets involved and provides a helping hand whenever a natural or man made disaster strikes in any corner of the earth.  Our efforts are always directed towards projects with long term benefits like building a school, hospital, housing or a rehabilitation center. JAINA’s administrative expenses in carrying out any project is limited to 3% of the funds raised compared to up to 40% cost experienced by many relief organizations. Please contribute generously in the spirit of Bhagwan Mahavir’s message of compassion - service to the sick and the poor is the true service to our Lord.

5thAnnual Kellogg Jain Leadership Conference,
Siddhachalam, April 2-4, 2010

This is an announcement for the 5thAnnual Kellogg conference sponsored by JAINA Leadership/Long Range Planning.

We as Jains and Jain organizations must collectively share a unified vision of Jainism. Over the past four years JAINA’s Long Range Planning Committee together with Jain leaders has developed a vision for the future of Jainism in North America. Dipak Jain, past Dean of Kellogg School of Management, invited Jain leaders from across USA and Canada to a historic first summit to discuss the future of Jainism in North America on April 15-17, 2005 at the Kellogg School of Business in Chicago.  This year, the conference's theme will be How to Deliver on a National Infrastructure for JAINISM in three key areas:
1. Financial sustainability– short and long term
2. Executive office – serving Jain community and the broader society
3. Process of growing the local centers and JAINA through appreciative inquiry

JAINA is delighted to present you the JAINA 2010 Calendar. This year's calendar continues its Yatra of the rich history of Jain Temple Art & Architecture. My Year 2010 Resolutions- Jain Way of Life
By taking this simple self-evaluation test you can determine your JWOL (Jain Way of Life) state of mind and practice. This exercise will expand your awareness and stimulate your mind in thinking about ways to live and share a Jain Way of Life in the Year 2010.

My Things - A Self Evaluation (click here...)
So much of our lives is consumed by collecting, managing, and maintaining "My Things.” Some are, of course, necessary for a comfortable lifestyle. However, others distract us and consume tremendous time and energy.

My Consumptions - Jain Way of Life - A Self Evaluation (click here..)
We are physically and mentally consuming. We eat, and think about eating, numerous times a day. We take care of our bodies using many products.

My Life and My World - A Self Evaluation (click here..)
We are not alone. My Life & My World are part of an ecosystem with tremendous opportunities as well as distractions.

My Mind and My Body - A Self Evaluation (click here..)
Managing my mind and body is critical for happiness, challenge, discovery, and spiritual growth. JWOL is living a
life grounded in thoughts, words, and actions of the core Jain principles of:

•    Non-Violence: in our diet, speech, and thoughts.
•    Non-Possessiveness: where we balance our possessions and desire for them.
•    Non-Absolutism: where we strive to keep our mind open and understand other views.

My Spirituality - Jain Way of Life - A Self Evaluation (click here...)
There are many distractions on the spiritual path. By taking this simple self-evaluation test you can determine your JWOL state of Spirituality.

Happy Diwali - Mahavir Nirvan (Tuesday Oct. 28th, 2008)

Celebrated on the new-moon day of Kartik, Mahavir attained Nirvana (attained liberation).  Mahavir discarded the body and the bondage of karmas that night at Pavapuri.  The celebration involves fasting, recitals of hymns and reading of Uttaradhyayan Sutra, which contains the final message of Lord Mahavir.  In the early morning of the first day of the new year, Gandhar Gautam Swami, the first disciple of Lord Mahavir, attained absolute enlightenment.  Click here to read on life and teachings of Mahavir.  [more]

See if you can take some time off from work or go to work late and visit your temple on the morning of Oct. 28th, 2008.  Also, please invite local college students to your home for Diwali puja, festivities, and of course dinner!
