Jai Jinendra @@first_name@@,

We are very proud of all of the Jain centers, big and small, that are celebrating the occasion of Mahavir Janma Kalyanak with organizing religious, spiritual, educational and cultural programs like poojans, lectures, declamation contests and cultural programs.

We would also like to share with you a number of updates and opportunities below!

1. FEATURES

I. CELEBRATING MAHAVIR JAYANTI
On this day we were reminded once again about the message of our Lord Mahavir. His teachings can be summarized into what we call today as the three Jewels, "Samyag Darshan", "Samyag Gyan" and "Samyag Charitra". How do we behold this teaching on a daily basis to "Live and Help Live"?

Let's start with "Samyag Darshan( Right Faith). Without having faith we cannot go any further in gaining the benefits of having a Jain life. We must first believe that the path that our Thirthankaras have laid out for us is correct. This path will lead us to a purer soul and rid us of our passions.

Once we are dedicated to the Jain way of life, we move to possess Samyag Gyan (Right Knowledge). We must use all possible resources, such as gurus, books, pathshala to gain knowledge about how to stay on the right path. We are fortunate that with technology we can access lectures or books from our gurus from anywhere. In order to be on the right path, we must invest the time to learn what is right.

Finally, Lord Mahavir asked his disciples to follow up on on what they have learned is the true path. Samyag Charitra (Right Conduct). While having faith and knowledge are all well in good, our path is not complete without acting on the Jain principles in our daily lives. Some of us take small steps toward our bigger goals such as helping those in need through volunteer or financial support. Some of us are ready for observing bigger austerities. The number of people doing various taps such as Varitap and Aymbil ni Oli throughout the Jain centers seems to constantly grow.

The wisdom passed on from Lord Mahavir from over 2500 years ago is still alive amidst this modern, fast paced, technologically advanced global world. Jains everywhere seek an inner peace through the teachings and practices of the Thirthankaras. When we follow the three jewels, we are truly celebrating the life and teachings of Mahavir Bhagwan everyday, not only during Mahavir Janma Kalyanak.
