JAINA Calendar 2005
A Challenge Leads to an Opportunity

Shipment of 2005 JAINA calendars from India has experienced unexpected delay and will be mailed to 10,000 Jain families in North America in mid March. However, it has been posted on our website www.jaina.org. Our interactive JAINA 2005 Calendar features Bhaktamar Gathas sung by a group of national pathsala students.

From the Editor
Mobilizing support for those in need

The year 2005 has burst in with a huge demand on our generosity. All the Jain Centers in USA and Canada are urged to channel their Tsunami Relief Fund collection through JAINA so we can undertake a substantial humanitarian project. JAINA volunteers in Madras have already started to survey the situation and they will prepare a need report. The World Community Service Committee of JAINA will then select a project to fund and supervise. WCS may also partner with another relief organization. Donations to the JAINA Tsunami relief fund can be made on line on www.jaina.org

If you have any suggestions or comments, or news stories to contribute, write to me at dilip.v.shah@jaina.org

This much needed forum will help develop speakers to avail opportunities in the communities they live in and provide JAIN perspective on the issues affecting our daily lives. The Interfaith Committee will work with other committees of JAINA to develop useful material and links as a resource for the speakers so that they can present our viewpoints in a simple and respectful manner. As followers of "Jiv Daya" and "Ahimsa" it is our moral obligation to respond to this cause and help these victims. We can't bring back the dead but let us help millions fighting for survival. Your contribution will make a remarkable difference in the lives of these unfortunate people. Previously with your support we have raised over $650,000 for Gujarat Earthquake, $100,000 for Latur Earthquake Fund, more than $70,000 for Kutch Cyclone Relief Fund and then for the Turkey earthquake Fund, Orissa and Kosovo.
