Jaina Education Update | |
| The second phase of the book is complete. We have incorporated all suggestions received after the completion of the first phase. From the existing material we have selected and prepared 38 stories and they are divided into five groups. The entire book (no pictures) is attached with this e-mail. Please provide your comments by January 15, 2003. The book will be ready for printer shortly after that date. | |

Jaina Education Level III Book (Jain Philosophy and Practice I) | |
| The book is in printing in India and will be ready by the end of January 2003. It may take two to three months before we get them in USA. You can purchase the book through your Päthshälä coordinator. The book has 32 chapters and total 160 pages, covering various topics of Jainism in very good English. It also contains about 30 color pictures. | |

Jaina Education Level IV Book (Jain Philosophy and Practice II) | |

The phase one is near completion. It contains 24 chapters and more than 200 pages. We will be distributing the soft copy for your review shortly. Our plan is to send the book to printer by 1st of February 2003. | |

Jain Anushthan CD and Sutra Book | |
| Jaina Education committee is also preparing “Jain Sutra and Prayer Book and CD”. The book will consist of Sämäyika and Chaityavandan sutras and selected Stavans and Stutis in Devnagari and English languages including meaning in English language. The book will be accompanied by a CD, which will have correct pronunciations for these sutras and Stutis. Neha and Rakesh Jain of Columbus OH are working with Seagull Corporation – Pune India in this project. We plan to complete the project by February / March 2003. | |

Jaina Education CD | |
| CD containing JAINA Education material and Literature has been published in August 2002. The CD not only has all the Pathashala material, but also contains many books, articles, Jivadaya material, hundreds of images of temples and Tirthankars, and many unique presentations. It contains more than 10,000 pages of text and 2,000 images. A must for anyone interested in Jain philosophy. So far we have sold about 5000 CDs. The detail of purchasing the CD is attached at the end of this E-mail. | |

Jain Päthshälä Education Material - Publishing Schedule | |
| After countless hours put in by many phase-I volunteers, most of the Pathshala material has been revised, completed and now preparing for printers. The following is the schedule for printing the Pathashala books: Jain Philosophy and Practice I (Level 3 - ages 13 to 15) – In printing Jain Philosophy and Practice II (Level 4 - ages 16 and up) – February 3, 03 Jain Story Book (Level 2 - ages 10 to 12) - January 15, 03 Jain Alphabet (Level 1 - ages 5 to 9) – December 30, 02 Basics of Jainism I (Level 1 - ages 5 to 9) – February 15, 03 Basics of Jainism II (Level 2- ages 10 to 12) – February 15, 03 Jain Coloring Book (Level 1 - ages 5 to 9) – February 28, 03 Jain Dot to Dot Book (Level 1 - ages 5 to 9) – To be determined All Pathashala educational material will be available through your local Pathashala coordinators and volunteers. All books will be sold on a cost basis. | |

Request for Donation for Education: | |
| We distribute the education material through our volunteers at a very reasonable price and on cost basis. However it was suggested that we should publicize and accept the donation for this activity and use this donation to reduce the price of the books and other education material (similar approach is used for Kanji swami’s and Ramsuri’s literature). Also our books have some market in India and other countries. This way our education material will reach to many people. Jain Workshops | |
| Jain Center of Miami, Florida and International Jain Sangha (IJS) of New Jersey have organized two day (16 hours) workshops for Pathshala teachers, adults and youths. The workshop will cover the following topics: Fundamental concept of Jainism, Philosophy of Karma, Application of Karma philosophy in a daily life, Anekantwad, Spiritual stages (Gunasthänak), Path of liberation, Jain literature, Jain rituals, Jain geography, Comparative Religions, and discussion on youths' questions. The workshop uses interactive method of Teaching and Communication, which requires debates, discussion and open?mindedness. The workshop is not a lecture format where the audience has very little input in terms of participation and discussion. Workshop will be conducted by Pravin K.
